Street Songs: France Café Bakery
A Play Born from an Online Workshop with Mohammad Rahmanian
On May 24th and 25th, Street Songs: France Café Bakery took to tthe stage at Artsdepor theater
This production was the outcome of months of creative collaboration, developed through an online workshop led by renowned Iranian playwright and director Mohammad Rahmanian.
The Creative Team and Cast
Produced by Mehromah and line produced by Laleh Mousavi, the play featured a talented ensemble:
Saba Arjmandi, Azad Amiri, Ehsan Amin, Forough Bani Saeed, Mehdi Parastaran, Kamand Panah, Bahare Golzari, Sogand Hojati, Zohreh Rostami, Ramin Shirvani, Shina Sedighi, Shahrokh Kaffashzadeh, Aramesh Motlagh, and Parnia Hezare.
When the Stage Met Unexpected Challenges
Like many creative journeys, this one faced an unforeseen obstacle. Just before the performance dates, UK visas for Mohammad Rahmanian, Shahrokh Kaffashzadeh, and Shina Sedighi, issued by the UK Home Office arrived too late. This meant they could not be physically present in London for the show.
Instead of removing or reworking the final act, which belonged to Shina and Shahrokh’s characters, the team found a creative solution: they filmed the scene in Dubai. During the live performance, this footage was projected onto the stage, merging theatre and cinema in a striking finale.
This last minute adaptation added an unexpected layer to the production.
